How Fairmont FCU Gives Back
At Fairmont Federal Credit Union (Fairmont FCU), our commitment to unwavering community support is our mission. Embracing the credit union philosophy of "People Helping People," we actively support our communities through various initiatives, including employee giving programs, volunteerism, corporate donations, and sponsorships. This year is especially significant as we celebrate our 85th anniversary, serving our communities since 1939.
Currently, we are raising funds for the School Intervention Program at WVU Medicine Children’s Hospital. This cause is funded by employee, member and corporate donations. To learn more on how Fairmont FCU gives back to the communities we serve, keep reading.
Employee Giving
Jean Fridays- Each Friday, our team participates in "Jean Friday," where employees contribute a small donation to wear jeans for a cause that changes monthly. Through this initiative in 2024, we have supported numerous organizations such as the American Heart Association, Community Outreach for Mental Health, Inc., Relay for Life (Marion, Monongalia, and Harrison), and Children’s Miracle Network/CU for Kids. Employees have opportunities to make further contributions during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, our Children’s Miracle Network Celebration, International Credit Union Day, and more.
Robes for Recovery- In 2013, Fairmont FCU employees launched the "Robes for Recovery" project to provide customized dignity robes for breast cancer patients undergoing radiation therapy. These robes are available at local treatment centers, including the WVU Radiation Center at Fairmont Regional Medical Center and United Hospital Center.
Volunteering- Our employees frequently volunteer for various charitable events and service projects. We participate in initiatives such as the United Way Day of Giving, United Way Day of Caring, Relay for Life, CASA for Kids events, and our Partner-in-Education Angel Tree program, among others.
Corporate Giving and Sponsorship
Fairmont FCU allocates funds specifically for corporate giving, which are used to make substantial donations to local organizations. In 2024, to celebrate our 85th Anniversary, we are contributing $1,939.00 to twelve charitable organizations—an additional $23,000.00 in corporate donations for the year. The donation amount of $1,939.00 symbolizes our founding year of 1939 and reflects our ongoing commitment to giving back to the community that has supported us for 85 years. We also support our local chamber golf tournaments, basket raffles, and silent auctions, as well as various local nonprofit organizations.
